Follow Your Fire

One of the things I find most inspiring is people who are following their fire.

Fire, or whatever you want to call it: following their dream, living their passion, finding their purpose, focusing on their One Thing.

Whether it’s the friend who quit their adult-job-with-a-pension in a landlocked place to follow their dream of living the island life and buying a boat, or the one who’s making progress on their plan to climb the highest mountain in every country in the world, or the sister who’s found her purpose in raising two adorable tiny humans, or the friend who’s making and sharing their music wherever and whenever they can, or the one who’s finally on the career path they’ve worked towards for so many years, or the friend who’s in their “carpe diem phase” (their words) and finally living as their true self.

Last night I attended a book launch for my soon-to-be cousin-in-law who is now a Published Freaking Author.

Jane the Virgin ❤️

Today I met with a friend and former coworker from a job we’ve both since moved on from, who is now making her way as an artist. We met in a cafe where her art is currently on display. A few pieces have even sold, hooray!

Everywhere all around me I’m surrounded by people who are following their fire, and I wonder… am I?

Surround yourself with people who… are following their fire 🔥

I am finding my way as a writer and a traveler — two for one with my new job. And while I finally feel like I am “getting there” after years of feeling pretty “stuck,” I know I still have a ways to go…

My own book, for instance. No, I haven’t forgotten or given up on that, but yes, it’s been put on the very far back burner. As in, the back burner of the stove that’s not even plugged in and actually just gathering dust and rust in the back corner of the garage.

Just kidding, I don’t have a garage (what a dream that would be), I live in a tiny hobbit home. But I love where I live, and I do feel like I’m on the right track… still, a little extra inspiration from the people around me never hurt.

Such as from all the people who are joining me in writing something, anything, every day for a month in the cold, dark chaos of November. Cheers to you, Cheer Peppers!

Are you following your fire?
