I’ve done a lot of writing today already, about some hard things, and I’m not sure I have much left to give.
I’ve also done a lot of feeling, and thinking… And worrying.
Especially worrying. Haven’t we all?
So I turned where I often turn when I’m feeling particularly hopeless. To the wisest person I know. Here’s what jumped out at me from The Good Book (by J.R.R. Tolkien, to be specific):
“I Have Found It Is The Small Things, Everyday Deeds Of Ordinary Folk, That Keeps The Darkness At Bay. Simple Acts Of Kindness And Love.”
-Gandalf
There’s a lot of darkness in the world right now. More than normal, even, it seems. But there’s also a lot of people out there keeping the darkness at bay.
Today, I was the recipient of multiple acts of kindness, including the gift of a few freezer meals from someone who cares.
Has someone done a simple act of kindness for you recently? Please share it in the comments below, and with your words celebrating a kindness, contribute one more little thing into the world to help keep the darkness at bay!
