Mototherapy

Needed a mental health break today, and my motorcycle has been sorely neglected this Fall and goes to its winter home tomorrow, so I took him for one last joyride.

Yes I call my motorcycle “he” – Xavier to be specific, for the X in his name: Honda CB500X

The weather was perfect for a ride up Cypress / Hollyburn Mountain in West Van, albeit a bit cold: 10 degrees celsius in Vancouver, probably 5 degrees cooler at the top.

On the way down the mountain the chill started to set in so I stopped for a hot drink and a snack. (Not that anyone ever needs a reason to stop for a snack).

Motorcycle Therapy obviously has to include drinks and snacks and epic views.

I read an article somewhere today about how motorcycling is good for your physical and mental health. It burns calories, activates the limbic system and pre-frontal cortex, releases oxytocin and endorphins to relax you and relieve stress, and more.

This smile brought to you by the many health benefits of Motorcycle Therapy

Every year I lament having to put my bike into storage. This mountain is still pretty bare — It better snow soon so I can put some snowboard therapy on my schedule to sustain me until moto-therapy season starts again.

Panoramic view from the lookout on the way up Cypress. Next time I’m up here will likely be on the way to winter adventures!
