We already know how this ends, so why do we keep playing along?
Is there not enough darkness in the world already? Is there not enough pain, grief, death, injustice, suffering yet?
The worse it gets, the worse it gets. And the harder it is to get out of.
We already know how this ends, and it feels like we can’t do anything to stop it.
Sign a petition. Donate. Attend a protest. Speak out. Take a stand. Fight. Pray.
But no matter what we do or say or sign, the darkness keeps growing.
We already know how this ends, maybe that’s the problem. The darker it gets, the harder it is to see another way.
They say you have to pick a side. If you don’t stand for something, you stand for nothing. That silence is complicity. But if you pick a side, even if it’s clearly the right one, are you not just falling into the trap of playing along?
We’re stuck in a broken system, playing a role for one side or the other. Pawns in a game where the ones calling the shots have the least to lose. But the sides aren’t getting any closer. The more damage is done, the farther apart they get.
Is it wrong if I don’t want to take a side? Is it wrong if I want us to find a way to break the very mould of it all?
We already know how this ends… Is it wrong if I want to believe in a different ending?
